Self-Reliance
The Adventurous Journey, by its nature, does contain an element of risk, which is why proper training and preparation are essential so you are well prepared for your journey. Be sure to take the time to read everything you can and research the trails to ensure you are ready for an adventure. This journey is designed to teach you self-reliance and independence.

July 15 TUESDAY
7:30am Breakfast
8:30am Trail Approach/Light Maintenance/Service
Working in pairs and staying on the trails within site of all others. Everyone must have proper safety equipment, sunscreen and bug spray. All trails must be 6 ft wide and 6 ft tall. Any branches or tree limbs in the trails way must be cut or moved. Maintaining a trail may seem like tedious work, especially if the trail is larger than average, but keeping the trail free of debris and trash makes it safer, more enjoyable and more aesthetically pleasing for anyone who happens to be navigating it. The majority of trail debris is underbrush from surrounding trees and bushes, fallen limbs from trees and discarded refuse from people who have walked the trail, such as bottles, cans and plastic bags. Lift fallen tree limbs out of the way of the trail. If the limb is too heavy, enlist the help of two or three. Move the limbs to the side of the trail, away from the traffic area. You can make a pile of these branches into a "winter home for small animals." Check for sink holes and try to fill with rocks or rake dirt into the hole. Cut down small trees (below the knee) that might be growing on the trail
12:00pm Lunch Break
1:30pm Team Building Scavenger Hunt
2:00pm Debrief
3:00pm Change/Prepare for Art Walk
3:30pm Travel to Art Walk
4:00pm Assist with Art Walk (Announcements, Entertainment, Face Painting, Information and Jolly Rogers to help everyone have a great time)
6:00pm Closing debrief at Gorham Common
6:30pm Depart for home
